Me (left) already on the Oats and my darling cousin Boris (right) on the strudel!

If you look really close... it's a Kitchen!!
It had to start somewhere!

Farmhouse Muesli originates from a period of time when growing up on a Croatian farm with my Grandparents. A very simple life and at time a tough one, but memorable nonetheless.
From a young age, I would rise ever so reluctantly at 5am to chop wood so that the house, stove and milk could be heated. Meanwhile, Baka (Grandma) Kata would be milking the cow for fresh creamy milk to pour over oats for breakfast.
In order to interest us to eat, what at the time I classed as bland Oats! Baka would transform each serving with either leftover apple strudel, poppy seed cake, Cherry Strudel or even Rosehip jam anything that was seasonally (sweet in season) – she loved to bake…..and Eat!
One thing I didn't know then, but do now is that Oats are one of the largest agriculture crop of Croatia (other than Potatoes to name a few) and interestingly has almost identical geographical and climatic properties to Daylesford, Australia.
So it was only a matter of time and sheer fate that fast forward a few generations, I now live in Daylesford not too dissimilar to where I grew up (minus the cow – for now) and am creating delicious breakfast recipes for Australia in Farmhouse Muesli. With Rolled oats sourced locally the Muesli is hand-blended in Daylesford surrounded by Farmers and surprisingly enough, a Croatian community.
With love,
